In October, Year 5 with the help of their teacher Lorna, started a Bikeability course for 4 days. They went out on their bikes with a Camden teacher to do so!

Camden Council currently has the initiative to double the use of biking by 2024/25, and double it again by 2041. This ensures that there is a growth in all cycling levels across all communities, including children, the elderly and people with disabilities.

Bikeability for children is training that provides them with essential life skills. They don’t just learn to ride a bike; they also develop independence, social skills, and a stronger sense of well-being.

After completing Bikeability, children become more skilled at handling risks and report a boost in confidence. This encourages more of them to cycle to school, which boosts their mental health and well-being. As a result, they’re more focused and engaged in the classroom, leading to healthier habits, better attendance, and improved academic performance.

Bikeability is more than just a training course; it positively shapes children’s lives.
